- Every concept has to start somewhere. Someone always has to lay the frist brick, get a decent ground and work it from there. That was exactly the case for trance.nu back in 1998. A guy named Tommie P. registered the domain and gave away free webmail accounts and subdomains to anyone who cared enough to fill out the forms. It wasn't until late july 2000 that the trance.nu concept saw a radical change.
- Ralf Elfving, a 17-year-old Swede, mailed Tommie in regards to buying the domain. Ralf had planned to establish a site with trance content to enlighten others but he needed a catchy domain that people would remember. Together they laid the foundation for something that would evolve much further than they every imagined. Trance.nu was the word and after just a couple of days and a few hundred ICQ-messages between the two, they proudly presented: "Trance.nu - V2".
- The first version of the now very developed and popular community saw a link-archive, news and reviews. Early fall of that same year, Tommie and Ralf took in Jezper. Known to many as "Airbase", he's a man that knows how to produce neat graphical layouts. Trance.nu now consisted of a trio: Tommie the coder, Jezper the graphic designer and Ralf the promoter. The trance.nu project saw immediate success and the three owners thought it was time to get more devoted people to work on the site. What many people don't know is that two of many contributors that have worked on the site over the years were Misja Helsloot and Armin van Buuren. However, they only stayed for a couple of months due to their budding careers as DJs and producers.
- The first big break came in September 2000 when trance.nu interviewed DJ Tiësto after he played in Stockholm, Sweden. The interview was a major magnet for the site and the number of visitors just kept rising. Soon the first steps were taken towards the interactive community you now find located at trance.nu. A forum where visitors could discuss the music we all love was established and members poured in. From that day forward trance.nu has seen a snowball effect, growing bigger and bigger, expanding in numbers and features. Not even the crew knows where we're heading, or when we'll get there. But because we believe in the music, and have such strong support from artists, labels and our members, we know that we won't fail to deliver.
